Our website is two-fold. We are here to guide a newly diagnosed patient to people that can help. We are here to inform, both our current membership, and all that stop by.

Difficult Diagnosis

The diagnosis of Parkinson’s is particularly challenging to hear. Parkinson’s is a progressive, degenerative neurological disease. You knew something was wrong. But having your neurologist give it a name, can be - at the same time - both overwhelming and comforting. At least now you know what you are dealing with.

And a big point to recognize: No two individual’s disease progresses in the same way or at the same speed. Parkinson’s may have a significant impact on you over time, or may be just another of life’s many challenges. -NCPSG

Why Join a Support Group?

People who have been through, or are going through, a similar circumstance can do more than sympathize with you — they can relate to your situation and keep you from feeling like you are alone. Support group members offer firsthand insight into many aspects of navigating the disease.

For some people, the most difficult step is walking through the door, but most find that once they make the decision, the experience is helpful and supportive. Remember, a support group is not a substitute for medical treatment or professional counseling and it is not a replacement for family and friends. -PAC
